On Saturday evening, the heat and humidity prompted a severe thunderstorm watch for the city of Moose Jaw and Surrounding RMs.

Shows were postponed and eventually cancelled due to damaged equipment out at Country Thunder due to the severe weather on Saturday evening. During that time, attendees were asked to stay indoors for the duration of the storm which produced quite the light show in the valley.

Environment Canada stated that conditions could have produced unfavourable conditions such as damaging wind gusts and hail, along with heavy rain.

"Very large hail can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors"

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
