Following a heat warning that has been in effect since the end of last week, Environment Canada issued another two warnings for a larger portion in the southern half of the province Monday.

The City of Moose Jaw and surrounding RMs were under a severe thunderstorm watch for much of the afternoon, but shortly after 3 pm Evinronment Canada upgraded it to a tornado watch along with the thunderstorm warning.

Meteorologists say the adverse weather could create strong winds, heavy rain and even has the potential to produce hail as they tracked a weather system throughtout the day on Monday. Stemming from northern Montana, a warm front is moving northeast acting as a catalyst for thunderstorms and tornadoes.

Moose Jaw was missed by the unfavourable weather, however residents were able to see lightning and interesting cloud formations to various directions of the city, most of which were to the south.

Officials are asking residents to keep checking as they continue to monitor this system that's headed east.
