The man who put Colin Thatcher away has passed away.

Serge Kujawa died Monday.  He was famously known as the crown prosecutor in the Colin Thatcher murder trial in 1984, with Thatcher being found guilty.

Kujawa represented the Crown in many notable cases, including the Shell Lake Massacre in 1967 which saw nine people killed, McCallum at Buffalo Narrows, a massacre of seven, and the Thatcher case.  Kujawa also argued for the prosecution against David Milgaard's 1970 appeal to have his murder conviction overturned, which it eventually was in 1992.

Kujawa also served as an NDP MLA for Regina Albert South from 1991-1995 before retiring from politics.

A memorial service for Kujawa will be held September 29 in Regina.
