The week of September 27th to October 3rd has been officially named as Senior's Week.

Especially right now, it's important to advocate for and uphold the quality of life for our elders.

Out at West Park Crossing Retirement Home, life enrichment coordinator Carol Bachiu talks about the importance of keeping seniors physically fit.

"Well, it all kind of rolls into one. Physical exercise stimulates mental health and just keeps them fit. One of our favourite sayings, of course, is 'If you don't use it, you lose it.' So, getting out and exercising means increased independence."

Bachiu explains some ways to stay motivated.

"We can use little contests or just personal goal setting that you can keep track of. Like how many minutes you've walked this week. Just things like that to keep it fun."

Senior specific programming will also be running all this week at the Timothy Eaton Gardens covering topics such as Fraud Safety and Computer literacy.
