As expected Rosthern-Shellbrook MLA Scott Moe announced his bid for the Saskatchewan Party leadership this morning.

"The Saskatchewan Party’s founding members and Premier Brad Wall knew the potential this province had and that vision is as true today as it was 20 years ago," said Moe. "Renewal is not just about one person, it’s about stepping forward together as a team to stand with Saskatchewan and ensure the foundation that Premier Wall built remains strong.”

Moe stepped down from his post as environment minister, and he now has the backing of some big players in the Sask Party.

Jim Reiter - minister of health and Rosetown-Elrose MLA - introduced Moe this morning in Saskatoon for his announcement.

Meadow Lake MLA Jeremy Harrison withdrew from the leadership race and also endorsed Moe. Harrison was the minister of economy before entering the race.

"[Moe] has become a leader in our caucus and cabinet and I know he is the best person to lead our team and the Saskatchewan Party forward,” said Reiter. “The strong team of Saskatchewan Party MLAs that have come forward to endorse Scott is evidence of this."

The election for the next Saskatchewan Party leader is January 27. Also running are Tina Beaudry-Mellor, Ken Cheveldayoff, Gordon Wyant and Alanna Koch.
