This week has been recognized as Teacher and Staff Appreciation week throughout Saskatchewan and our local school divisions have been celebrating.

"It's just an opportunity for us as a school board to recognize the good work that all staff do. Whether it's teachers, caretakers, librians and so on the contributions they make to the learning environment for our children," explained Interim Director for the Holy Trinity Catholic School Division, Darrell Zaba.

Director for the Prairie South School Division, Tony Baldwin echoed Zaba, saying that there's a lot of people in the education sector who deserve praise.

"It used to be that there was Teacher Appreciation Week or Day, and we've really come to understand in recent years that staff is about all the staff," said Baldwin. "We people all over, we have mechanics fixing buses that don't interact with kids on a day to day basis, but those kids are safe every day going to school because of those mechanics."

For the past week staff members in both divisions have been receiving praise and baked goods as a way to say thank you for all their hard work year round.
