Customers of SaskTel who pay their bills in-person will no longer be able to do so when the new year hits.

Eleven SaskTel stores will no longer be accepting the payments from customers in-person.

Michelle Englot, SaskTel Director of external communications, said that they are making the change so that they can better allocate the resources of there staff.

"There are so many alternative payment options available at this time," she said. "What we want our 11 cooperate retail stores to focus on other customer service activities, and this will allow us by reducing bill payments that are made within the store. This will allow us to refocus on those initiatives."

The over 600,000 bills that are paid in-person represents five percent of bills paid at SaskTel.

Englot said that there are plenty of other options that customers can use to pay.

"The alternative payment options include paying through MySaskTel online or on our mobile app. Signing up for e-bill and reducing the paper bill as well is something that we strongly encourage," she said. "You can also set up pre-authorized payments, you can pay at a financial institution, you can still mail in your bill, or there are drop boxes in all of our stores, or you can also call, so there are many alternatives."

Englot added that customers who may have service restrictions or who have had their service disconnected will still have the ability to make in-person payments to restore services.
