It was announced back in 2017 that SaskTel would be upgrading various towers throughout the province to improve wireless service to rural customers. SaskTel shared that the improvements will be made to their 4G LTE service so residents in areas who have had trouble with service in the past should see a change once the construction is complete.

On Wednesday a small cell solution was deployed to begin the improvements that will impact 43 communities including Mortlach, Morse, Briercrest and many more.

“Our government understands that having access to fast and reliable communications services are vital in today’s digital world,” Minister Responsible for SaskTel Don Morgan said in a statement.  “This most recent round of wireless upgrades from SaskTel will greatly benefit many residents, farms, and businesses who call rural Saskatchewan home.”

“Today’s announcement further demonstrates our commitment to deliver world-class communications services to our customers throughout the province,” SaskTel Acting President and CEO Doug Burnett said in the same statement.  “These upgrades will help bolster our network and add capacity to address the ever-growing demand for wireless data.”

All upgrades are scheduled to be completed by the end of March next year.

The remaining 57 locations that still require upgrades will be announced following the successful construction of the first 43 towers.
