Looking to increase the amount of renewable energy the count on to supply the province, SaskPower is hoping to get some help from their customers.

As part of their plan to lower emission levels 40% below 2005 levels by the year 2030, SaskPower has introduced the Power Generation Partner Program or PGPP.

"it's going to be a program that allows existing SaskPower customers that can produce electricity to sell that to SaskPower," explained Minister Responsible for SaskPower Dustin Duncan.

The PGPP will be replacing the Small Producers Programs and the existing Flair Gas Program and Duncan expects to see 70 to 105 megawatts added to the grid over the next three years.

The change was brought forward based on feedback and concerns over the previous model. Duncan says they will be looking for 20-year contracts to be signed with individuals or companies.
