SaskPower crews continue to work on permanent fixes to the significant power outages this week.

On Tuesday, the lights went out as three power generation sites dropped offline, causing a city-wide outage and the power going down across the province. We also had a little scare late Wednesday morning but power returned not soon after.

Another large outage occurred Thursday around noon as a main transmission line went off affecting Grenfell, Melville, Neudorf, and all surrounding towns and rural communities. Their power has since been returned.

While Saskatchewan has seen it's fair share of dramatic weather, the recent frost put us in a tough place as the lack of sun gave it the chance to grow and cause more damage to power lines.

Prevention of another outage can be tough, but SaskPower says they'll just have to be prepared to deal with a situation like if it occurs again, but they are currently looking at improving some of their infrastructure.

Right now, SaskPower is making sure a similarly widespread outage won't happen again.
