Greg Lawrence, Don McMorris and Warren Michelson

Some of you may have gotten a surprise visit Wednesday as campaigning in the provincial election continued. Health Minister Don McMorris was out door knocking with fellow Saskatchewan Party candidates Warren Michelson and Greg Lawrence.

McMorris said the new hospital for Moose Jaw has come up a lot in the campaign and he's had to do some explaining to local residents on the door step because of rumours he says are being spread by the Moose Jaw NDP candidates. While the new hospital is to be a bit smaller than the current hospital, it doesn't mean they plan to reduce services.

"I think (Wakamow NDP incumbent) Deb Higgins thinks we should build a new hospital like the 1948 hospital." said McMorris during a break from campaigning Wednesday. "Things have changed. We can do far more procedures in a smaller space that we ever did before. There are efficiencies that can be found and it doesn't mean a reduction in staff, not at all, but it means better utilization of staff."

McMorris believes health care is one of the big issues around the province and says the Saskatchewan Party is willing to continue to make improvements like they have over the last four years.
