Things are expected to heat up in Saskatchewan in the coming days. In fact, for some parts of the province, the heatwave has already begun.

Environment and Climate Change Canada issued heat warnings for many parts of west-central and northwest Saskatchewan with temperatures expected to reach into the 30s, with overnight lows remaining above 15°. As the week goes on, temperatures will continue to climb and the heatwave will reach into other areas as well.

The Kindersley-Rosetown area could see temperatures reaching 36° by mid-week, while the Swift Current and Moose Jaw areas will see temperatures around 34° by the end of the week. The eastern parts of the province will have temperatures into the 30s by mid-week as well.

The system responsible for the coming Saskatchewan heatwave has already been affecting British Columbia and Alberta, where several records have been set in recent days. It is expected through much of the week in those provinces, and possibly longer, giving a slight indication of what can be expected in Saskatchewan.
