There are just over 6 weeks left until the new Premier of Saskatchewan and Leader of the Saskatchewan Party is voted in.

Rob Clarke has confirmed that it will not be him, as he pulled his name out of the running Wednesday morning.

Clarke, Ex-Member of Parliament for Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River in Northern Saskatchewan, has given his support to Ken Chevelldayoff.

"I'm very pleased to have Rob Clarkes endorsement," said Chevelldayoff.

"Most importantly he agrees with my policies regarding marijuana and drugs and crime in the province. Obviously, he has a strong background in law enforcement and he undersatnds that I'm very serious about that. I'm a grassroots candidate, I've always said its not about endorsements, it's not about the establishment, it's about grassroots voters and he told me that he agrees with that stance as well."

Chevelldayoff and Clarke spoke after the Regina debate, which was the final debate of the Saskatchewan Party Leadership Race.

"He told me that he thought I did very well in the debate and that he agreed with a lot of my issues and we had a good chat there," said Chevelldayoff.

"Whenever you get somebody's confidence and endorsement it certainly helps in the campaign but I'm not taking anything for granted. I will be talking to every one of Rob's supporters personally and personally asking for their support just as I am all members across the province. I dont believe that one person speaks for another I'm going to earn the vote of each of those supporters."

Clarke said that he doesnt want to split the grassroots vote.

"Ken and I are both looking at renewal with the party and both of us are almost outsiders with the party so instead of doing a vote split, what I'm hoping to do is throw my support behind Ken," explained Clarke.

Clarke ran for Saskatchewan Party Leadership for four weeks having put his name into the running, November 15th. The application fee to run for the Saskatchewan Party leadership is $25,000.

Clarke said that he is now going to spend his time making sure Chevelldayoff gets elected and get back to his consultancy business. He also mentioned he is considering to run in the 2020 provincial election.
