A group of health advocates is giving the province of Saskatchewan a Dminus on how they handle smoking in our province.

The Cancer Society, Lung Association along with the Heart and Stroke Foundation released their report card and Donna Pasiechnik with the Cancer Society hopes Premier Brad Wall takes note.

"In 2013-14, the government raised $275 million in tobacco taxes and spent $450 thousand in tobacco control, one of the second lowest in Canada and it's simply unacceptable"

The province got two "Fs" in the report card for refusing to ban flavoured tobacco and for not making a move on e-cigarettes.

"Since out indoor smoking ban back in 2005, people keep telling us that they were able to quit because of those laws." said Pasiechnik as she pointed out that more legislation is needed. "That's what we need to be doing, implementing those kinds of laws so that it's more difficult for people to have a cigarette. Other provinces are doing it and so should we, so we're frustrated."

But there were some good moves made according to Pasiechnik including a ban on smoking in vehicles with minors, increasing tobacco taxes and controlling the sale of tax-exempt tobacco.
