19 employees spanning the province who work for Sask Polytechnic are being laid off.

In a statement, the school said that it’s the result of a yearly operational review ensuring program alignment with current market demand, operating efficiencies, and budget account abilities.

The provincial government's spring budget left post-secondary funding at the same level as last year, though the school didn’t say whether the provincial budget was a factor in its decision.
Last year, following the 2017-18 budget, which included a five per cent reduction to its operating grant, Sask. Polytechnic laid off 23 people. An additional 43 staff members accepted buyouts.

Full time, part time, professional and academic jobs across the province are being affected in the move.

According to Sask Poly, the employees represent less than one per cent of the school’s workforce.
