Saskatchewan Polytechnic continues to evolve the way that students can continue their education, even after leaving the school.

Through a partnership with the U of R, Sask Polytech has made it easier to transfer credits between the schools.

Students can now transfer up to 60 credits from one of many diplomas they offer when want to continue on to receive a Bachelor of Health Studies.

Barb Gustafson is the Coordinator of Learner Pathways for Sask Polytech, and said that this is just another example of the great relationship the two schools have.

"We've had a really strong relationship with the University of Regina over the last two decades, at least twenty years of transfer credits from diploma programs from Sask Polytech, previously SIAST, to their degree programs."

The diploma programs that can now transfer into U of R are:

• Dental Hygiene advanced diploma

• Health Information Management diploma

• Advanced Care Paramedic diploma

• Cytotechnology diploma

• Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology diploma

Gustafson talked about why these credits in particular were chosen.

"I think that anybody who has interacted with the health care system knows that there is a great need for trained professionals in all health care disciplines. So that was one reason why this was focused on for this agreement."

She said this is just one of many pathways to further education that Sask Polytech has to offer.
