Saskatchewan's Official Opposition leader Ryan Meili spoke passionately about the current health crisis and the Sask. Party government during his media scrum on Tuesday, ahead of the Throne Speech on Wednesday.

"We're one year past the last election. One year of deadly failures on the part of Scott Moe and the Sask. Party. A premier who has consistently put politics ahead of people's lives, " says Meili, "We all know what he was doing this summer. he hosted more golf tournaments than he did COVID press conferences."

When asked what he thought about Moe's speech on Monday about the current COVID-19 situation, Meili says he was disappointed.

"It was an extremely strange speech yesterday and it makes me wonder where the Premier's head is at. We're in the middle of the biggest health crisis this province has ever faced. He has been at the center of decisions that have cost people their lives and he's trying to change the channel. The world is watching what's going on with Saskatchewan and Scoot Moe is trying to change the channel. It's just proof, he's not up for the job. he's not fit for the work he's been asked to do."

Meili stated the Moe ignored help offered from the Federal government back in September, ignored the pleas from medical experts for more restrictions and safer mandates and these actions stand as proof that Moe has put politics before people.

"(There's) a pattern that goes back to the second wave when he ignored the signs, resulting in hundreds of deaths. the third wave where we were in a race between vaccines and variants and he decided to give the variants a head start and hundreds of people died. And now in the 4th wave he ignored the modelling, he ignored the experts and we've experienced the worst 4th wave in the entire country," he says.

Meili fought against Moe's claims that more restrictions would be unfair to vaccinated people by pointing out that cancelled therapies, organ transplants, medical surgeries, and much more are unfair.

Meili was strong in his statements the Moe has failed in his first year since the election in 2020 and that he's proven unworthy of his seat as Premier, "The people of this province deserve leadership. They deserve better than this Sask. Party government. We're a year out from this election, what do we see? Thousands out of work. We see a homeless tent city in the middle of our capital. We see a government that promised to balance the budget and then broke that promise six months later. Scott Moe never had any intention of balancing the budget he's never done so and there's no real chance he ever will," he says, "He promised in that last election to hire over 300 continuing care aids to staff up in long term care. Instead, we've seen more people die in long-term care from COVID than we have seen hired to work to support those residents."

Meili assured the people of the province that during this legislative session the Opposition will continue to call out the Sask. Party government and hold them responsible for the failures that Meili stated. Meile says, "There's no room for us to give him a free ride after he has made these choices, deliberate decisions that have cost people their lives. We are not holding back at all."
