Lace-up your running shoes, because the third annual Moose Jaw Run and Walk 4 Alzheimer’s is taking place on Aug. 28.

The event will be taking place in Connor Park and organizers are hoping to get underway at 8 a.m.

Runners and walkers can take part in either the 5k trail course or the 10k trail course.

All of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.

“We have done this event now two years in a row. This is the third annual event and so far, we have raised over $10,000,” said race director Sarah Clarke.

This year’s event will be much different compared to last year’s event that was somewhat hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, there was a staggered start of small groups of runners and once that runner completed the course, they were given their post-race packages and had to leave due to public health restrictions.

Now that restrictions have been lifted, Clarke said they are looking forward to being able to socialize again.

“That's one big part of running that I've always enjoyed is meeting up with people and getting together with your friends and your family and being able to get outside and get active,” Clarke said.

Registration for the event is now open. Those who are interested in signing up or just want to make a donation can visit their website at https://www.walkrun4alz.com.
