You may have noticed a lot of road work going on in the city of Moose Jaw. You may have also noticed that it's taking longer than expected.

The rain is to blame for that, as weather has delayed paving on Main St and the 4th Ave bridge on-ramp.

Colin Prang with the Moose Jaw Engineering Department talked about the delays.

"Continued rain will slow us down. We can't pave during the rain, we need the hot temperatures to get compaction and everything. So if it's raining or rain is imminent, then we could very well see those streets still closed long into next week."

Prang hopes to finish the paving early next week if the weather cooperates.

He also mentioned that work will begin on sewer lines starting on Monday. Drivers will see some delays around Manitoba St around 2nd Ave E, where they will be pumping the sewers from over on South Hill.
