Finals go this week at Moose Jaw High Schools, and with graduation following soon after, each valedictorian has been chosen for the class of 2018.

Riverview Collegiate Institute High School valedictorian for the year is Blake Manship. During high school, Manship said he was more introverted, making class and academics more of a focus for him.

With Riverview being a smaller school, he chose it for his transition from grade 8 at Westmount Elementary School to grade 9 at RVCI, since it was a more comfortable choice for him.

At RVCI he took part in board game Friday, which gave him a chance to meet more people.

"[The groups] mostly made my time more social," Manship said. "I rarely talked to people outside of them so they were most of my social interaction."

Manship enjoyed all of his teachers, and for him, Math was his favourite subject since he enjoyed it the most. Learning new subject came easily for Manship, which helped him with his marks.

Next year, he plans to go to Saskatchewan Polytechnic for Computer Engineering Technologies, he said he wanted to go there because of the convenience of the school being in town, and his interest in electronics.

With graduation and finals this week, Riverview's valedictorian will be going into it with an 89% average. Right now, he's a little worried about graduation, but he's happy for it too, especially since this means he's finished high school.
