As families start getting their Easter meal plans together, one local agency is hoping some of that good spirit could be shared with them.

Riverside Mission in Moose Jaw is hosting an Easter meal for the people who utilize their building and services along with anyone who is wanting to enjoy a nice meal with other community members.

"What it is it's a restaurant style, sit down and served meal," detailed Chaplin for the Mission, Jacob Odie. "Some of our clients don't get a chance to go out to restaurants so this way they can have that restaurant experience; it's an exercise in dignity. It's just wonderful to see the looks on their faces after they've had that meal - it does something special. We want the community to be a part of this as well you can come down if you'd like or you can chip in."

Tickets for the two sittings on April 18th are free and all anyone who is interested in attending needs to do is inquire about a ticket at their office and they're able to attend free of charge.

"What our former Executive Director Scott used to say 'we don't check T4 slips at the door,' that's true it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from or even your financial background if you want to come and have a meal please do and come have a meal with us. It's a community thing."

Along with providing free meals to the public various times throughout the week, the local agency provides services for people in need in a number of areas such as housing and health supports.

Moose Jaw's Donny V. who has been utilizing the Mission and the support they provide, says he owes all of his success in turning his life around to the agency and the people who help keep it running. Donny said he's struggled with mental illness and addictions and with the new programs the mission has recently implemented he's been living a much healthier lifestyle is a safe building.

"I couldn't have done it without the help and support of the community of Moose Jaw the mental health system here is just super. All the support that people have shown me and given me as well as my strength that I can now pass onto the community, I thank everybody from the bottom of my heart."

Those wishing to support the mission can contact them to find out about ways to volunteer or if residents are feeling generous, the mission is taking donations of any size to help fund their upcoming Easter meal to make it one to remember for those who plan to attend.
