Big bikes, big hearts and leather jackets will take over Main Street Moose Jaw once again.

Saturday will be the Moose Jaw Cycle Association’s 33rd annual Toy Run in downtown Moose Jaw.

With the holiday season still months away, The Salvation Army is always in need of donations. A fact that is well known throughout the motorcycle community.

Club president, Murray Roney explained why this event is so important.

“Well, I think a big part of it is that we realize that there are kids out there that need just a little bit extra. The motorcycling community is more than willing to help in any kind of charitable thing, and this was the one that we got hooked in with, and we're going full bore still.”

Riders from all across the province descend upon the city for this annual event, donations at the ready. You are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy, book or monetary donation if you plan to attend.

After making some adjustments last year due to pandemic-related restrictions, Roney said they are back to business as usual for 2021.

“September 18th, we leave the bottom of Manitoba St and go into Main Street at 2:00 O'clock Sharp,” Roney explained.

“So, if people want to go down to the Manitoba from 4th Ave Bridge towards Main Street and Park your bikes there and wander around, talk to people and from there 2:00 o'clock we head up Main Street, go all the way up to Thatcher, And then over to Salvation Army church.”

Everyone is welcome to participate, even those who don’t ride can line Main Street and cheer on riders as they head to the donation centre.

A steak night fundraiser will also be returning this year at the Crushed Can with proceeds going towards the purchase of toques and mittens which will also be donated to the Salvation Army ahead of the Christmas season.
