The fire on Sunday at Crestview Apartments in Moose Jaw is having a major impact on the residents of the building.  Some 60 seniors are without homes because of the blaze on the weekend that did significant damage.

Luckily, groups like Red Cross and the First Baptist Church stepped in to meet the needs of those displaced. Georgiana Schuring is the Red Cross Provincial Operations Disaster Manager and came to our city because it was a huge effort.

"We have a fantastic team of Red Cross volunteers in Moose Jaw and so I wanted to make sure they had all of the necessary papers and services available to assist the residents."

"A lot of family were very concerned and turned up and some (residents) went with them to their homes." said Schuring. "And there were some residents where that wasn't possible and so the Red Cross did meet their needs and put them up in hotel rooms."

The seniors that were affected by the fire all had tenant insurance so more assistance should be on the way shortly to make sure they won't be without a residence for long.
