Only one decision item is on the public agenda when Moose Jaw city council meets on Monday night.

City administration is putting forward a recommendation to submit an expression of interest for the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure’s Urban Highway Connector Program (UHCP).

The expression in interest is to have repair to Ninth Avenue Southwest and Highway 363 from the city limits to Warner Street and Valleyview Drive.

The UHCP was launched by the provincial government in 2008 to help urban municipalities repair urban roadways that connect with highways.

The City of Moose Jaw joined the program in 2015. The city completed the rehabilitation of the North Service Road under the program and the 2020 submission for Main Street North from the Canadian Tire Entrance to Highway 2 was approved with work to begin in 2022.

The program would see the province fully fund the approved projects.

According to a report from city administration, this roadway has had slope stability and slumping issues and underwent structural repairs and slope monitoring as far back as 1997.

The expression of interest at this time is only a draft as the city is waiting for the scope and costs from the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure.
