A $100,000 playground project has finally come to fruition for Sunningdale Park.

The recently installed playground structure is a part of the City's Capital Budget plan to help make city playgrounds safer and more accessible for children and families.

The previous Sunningdale Park playground structure.

Bob Craig, a Design Technician with Moose Jaw Parks and Recreation, said that the original structure "was one of the older ones in the city, (and) it was an old, wood, timber structure" that the City planned to replace in 2016.

Craig said it's not just the structure of the apparatus that they look at, but what's around it as well.

"The surfacing's a big one. If we (had) sand in there, you can't get a wheelchair into the sand, and we always try move to this wood fiber mulch (for the ground). And we're even going to attempt to do that in our existing playgrounds, to change out some of the sand and put this wood fiber in (which) makes it a lot easier for someone in a wheelchair to access the playground and get around it a little bit better".

The park is now open to all.

Testing out the new equipment.

Let's go for a spin!
