Policing agencies across the country spent last weekend cracking down on people driving while intoxicated for National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.

RCMP Sgt. Tim Schwartz said over the three local check stops, Moose Jaw finished the day with some good statistics.

"535 vehicles were checked as part of the static as well as roving patrols before and after." explained Schwartz. "There were five drivers that the proof screening device had been administered to for alcohol and all five drivers passed."

Sgt. Schwartz noted that Police and RCMP departments host days like this a handful of times throughout the year, but like to do it before the holidays to remind people to get a safe ride home.
