Construction to fix the railway crossing at Main Street North is expected to begin the week of July 6, according to a report going before city council Monday night.

The city’s share of the project is expected to cost $120,000, with $50,000 funded by the capital pavement account and $70,000 funded by the operating accounts.

Two driving lanes have been closed until the repairs could be made.

Two discretionary use applications will also be going before council.

The first at 833 Ominica St. W. Unit A where Sarah’s Hair has submitted an application to operate a hair salon.

The other discretionary application is at 710 Fairford St. W. Unit 3 for No Dog Left Behind to operate a dog training and day-care business.

Administration is recommending approval of this application with the condition that four off-street parking spots are met.

City council will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Council chambers are still closed to the public, but you can watch it live on the city’s website.
