The weekly crop report was released on Thursday and things are looking good despite tricky weather during the summer months.

"The bulk of the harvest has been completed now, but we are waiting for crops such as flax and soybeans to actually dry down," explained Cropping Management Specialist Shannon Friesen. "We do have lots of fall work happening and a lot of cattle work happening as well."

After a solid push through the month, harvest operations are nearing completion around Moose Jaw, but now producers need some help from Mother Nature and some patience.

"Now that we have some cooler weather, some colder nights, we've had frost and the days are shorter now as well.... hopefully things can improve for us and we can get the rest of the crop off."

Producers did have a few speed bumps in their way this past growing season, but Friesen said the grain in the bin is looking better than anticipated earlier in the year.

"Overall things are still fairly well around here, we have gotten the crop off. Yields for the most part range anywhere from much lower than normal to about average. Crop quality itself is actually very good and probably the best that we have seen for years around here."
