The government of Saskatchewan has revealed its latest offer to the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation.

On Wednesday afternoon, the province announced their latest offer would provide teachers a $1,500 one-time payment, and a 2% salary increase in each of the next 3 years.

This would be an addition to the 1% increase in salary teachers received last year.

One of the primary issues in the dispute are classroom composition, along with size, with teachers saying that while dealing with some students' complex needs, services for other students are being negatively impacted.

Along with a salary increase and one-time payment, the government said they will commit funds that will be applied to composition challenges in provincial classrooms. A committee was formed last fall and has met several times to develop a framework for class size and composition.

In the press release released by the provincial government, Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant said “I encourage teachers to participate in this important committee as they work daily with students and understand the composition issue very clearly. I urge the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation to select teacher representatives to join this committee, which I am prepared to reformat for this important discussion.”
