The Ministry of the Environment released a report on the state of the environment which focuses on the province’s forests.

There are 24 indicators of forest health which includes productivity and resilience, economic and social benefits, conserving biological diversity and sustainable forest management.

The ministry has a legislated commitment to report on the state of the crown forest land at least every ten years.

Environment minister Dustin Duncan said that Saskatchewan continues to lead the country in Indigenous participation in the forest sector, and the province’s forest industry is thriving with room to grow.

A media release said some of the new challenges the forests face over the past decade include a changing climate.
