Amid the COVID-19 emergency, the Government of Saskatchewan has announced changes to fine collections and late payment fees.

Effective March 19, enforcement measures on fines have been temporarily suspended for the next six months. This includes the following:

  • Late payment fees
  • Files sent to SGI related to driver’s licenses suspensions
  • Files sent to the Canada Revenue Agency for set off
  • Files sent to Collection Agencies

The province says this doesn’t mean fines do not need to be paid.

For fine payments that are needed for driver’s licences that have been suspended, Court Services will forward the payment information to SGI within 48 hours.

Provincial courts are still open to receive bail and restitution payments, you are just asked to phone the court to arrange for the payments beforehand.
