A new provincial program has started in Saskatchewan called the Community Recovery Team.

The goal is for them to provide intensive support for people living with complex, persistent mental health challenges. They'll use a holistic and team-based approach to help clients manage symptoms, set and achieve goals, and thrive in the community.

“Mental health is a priority for our government,” Deputy Premier and Education Minister Gordon Wyant said in a written release. “By providing more intensive care out in the community, we can better support people living with complex, persistent mental health challenges.”

“Community Recovery Teams are an important step in supporting clients to be successful at home and in their community,” stated Executive Director of Mental Health and Addictions for Saskatchewan Health Authority, Colleen Quinlan.  “The interdisciplinary team approach allows for comprehensive and customized care plans that are centred around the client.  This type of model allows us to be flexible and responsive and provide supports when and where the client needs it the most.”

$4.2 million in targeted funding supports the launch of the teams, which will be set up in Regina, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, North Battleford, Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Yorkton and Weyburn.
