Moose Jaw Co-op is one local gas station in the city that will not be making the switch to prepay only, even though more and more other companies are.

Choosing customer convenience is something that they are trying to uphold by providing full service at all of their locations.

Riley Wright, Operations Manager and Controller, said even though they aren't making customers pay first before they fuel up, there are definitely positives to doing so.

"There are certainly benefits to having customers prepay. We do from time to time run into issues where customers will drive away without paying for their fuel or, in some instances, where one of our attendants will put more into someone's tank than what they had previously asked for," explained Wright.

He also added that the biggest negative that sticks out in his mind would be the inconvenience to a customer by implementing an only prepay option, as they would have to go in and pay for their fuel before an attendant could begin filling their tank, forcing them to make their stop longer than some people would desire.

"Moose Jaw is a fairly small community, for the most part, our attendants know who it is fueling up at our stations. Quite often they have their names and Co-op numbers memorized."

Wright said theft of fuel is more common at their transient station that's close to the highway, but those situations are still not taking place frequently enough for Co-op officials to reevaluate their current model.
