As budget talks continue in Moose Jaw, there's a need for a larger increase than first expected. Councillors added $146,000 to the budget for the newly created airport authority and $132,000 for the winter road maintenance budget.

While council is still deliberating, those two changes Monday night will result in the proposed tax increase going from 3.82% to 4.16%.

That's not sitting well with some councillors and on a motion from Councillor Brian Swanson, administration has been directed to create a report listing all the potential cuts that could be made to slash 8% from the budget this year. Depending on how long it takes to create and the fact that there's only one scheduled budget meeting left, this motion will likely extend budget talks.
