A program that provides businesses up to $10,000 as they adjust to COVID-19 has been extended.

The provincial government announced a three-month extension of the Re-Open Saskatchewan Training Subsidy (RSTS) from March 31, 2021 to June 30, 2021 on Friday.

The program, which launched last June, is a temporary training subsidy ot help businesses financially as they adjust to the pandemic and work to operate safely in sync with the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan.

Eligible private-sector employers receive 100 per cent of employee training costs, up to $10,000.

"This program has been another important tool to support Saskatchewan businesses during the global COVID-19 pandemic," Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said. "With significant uptake to this point, the extension of this program will give more businesses the opportunity to access this program as we continue to work through the pandemic and economic recovery."

The province said the response from employers has been positive, as the program has received over 1,000 applications and doled out over $4 million.
