Holy Trinity Director of Education Sean Chase has been through the joint-use school building process before.

Chase, who was at Riverview Collegiate Thursday night to speak about the new school earmarked for South Hill to replace four current schools, used to work in Regina schools, where they recently opened several such schools.

“With that comes wisdom, in terms of in many instances, mistakes that were made, and things you might not want to replicate,” Chase said. “But also working with teams of massively talented individuals.”

Chase said they would like to be able to learn from some of the lessons at the Regina schools.

“We had a meeting with some of the staff who were involved in the openings of the schools in the Regina, three months after the opening,” said Chase. “We were able to take those notes of ‘Next time around, what might you change compared to where you were this time?’ And it’s the wisdom of that. You do your best to plan and you can plan for those known unknowns before they arrive.”

He said that having the chance to not replicate those things will be great.

Chase has been meeting with his Prairie South counterpart Tony Baldwin and they will be meeting with the ministry over the coming years as the project moves along.

“Sean and I, we haven’t had a day since the announcement was made that we haven’t either sat down together or been on the phone together,” said Baldwin. “I expect we will become pretty close working colleagues here over the next two to three years.”

There is no opening day set for the new joint schools.
