Working towards their eventual merger, the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan and Agrium Incorporated have announced their new name.

The company created will be called Nutrien, assuming the merger process is given final approval and goes as planned, anticipating the process to come to a close in the third quarter of 2017.

The deal will merge two of the largest agriculture companies in the world.

Potash Corp is based out of Saskatoon and produces the most, by capacity, potash around the globe. They are also boasting some of the largest numbers of production in Nitrogen and phosphate.

The Calgary based Agrium however, is a leader in producing nitrogen, potash, phosphate, fertilizers and many others. But unlike their new partner, Agrium also provides services like crop protection and seed.
