It's been in the works for quite some time now but the plans going forward as the Moose Jaw Police Service will no longer be accepting payments for parking tickets.

Previously, you could resolve your debt at the police station, but now that responsibility will be cleared from the police service and will solely be done by the City of Moose Jaw at City Hall, right around the corner from the station.

With so many changes in how parking tickets are handled now, such as the change from meters to a pay station at the City Hall parking lot and online payment now being accepted, the police service and the City felt it was a perfect time to transition.

Even though the MJPS won't accept payments anymore, they won't be completely absolved from their duties.

"If it's a payment issue or if it's an issue of trying to pay a ticket and not being able to online, we're not the people to turn to anymore," Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth explained. "The only part we're sort of responsible for is if somebody is contesting a ticket. That's our role now, that's our only role, is if somebody is disputing a ticket."

Parking tickets can now be paid at City Hall, through the mail, or online by following the link at the top of the page on the City's website.
