A pair of sexual assaults in Moose Jaw has the Moose Jaw Police Service on the lookout for a suspect, or suspects.

According to police, two incidents took place involving women jogging before being stopped and assaulted.

On June 21, a female was approached by a man on a bicycle as she was jogging and was sexually assaulted in the area of 12th Avenue and Lillooet St W. The victim resisted and the attacker fled. The attacker was described as Caucasian, 5'11-6' tall, wearing a black hoodie with a black backpack.

On July 27, a report came in that in late April or early May, a female who was jogging in the Sunningdale area near Thatcher Drive was approached by a male on foot and was sexually assaulted. She fought off the attacker and he fled. She described the attacker as Caucasian, thin, 5'9-6', wearing a dark hoodie and black pants.

The Police Service has said they are investigating both incidents and they're working to determine whether or not the incidents are related. They are also asking for the public's assistance to help identify any witnesses of either incident.

They also ask that if anyone else has experienced a similar incident and has not reported it to police, to do so as it may provide information that could identify one or both suspects.

In light of these incidents, the Moose Jaw Police Service is also suggesting the public follow these precautions if you are out walking, jogging, running, or biking at night:

  • Stay in well-lit and visible areas
  • Have a partner
  • Bring your phone and know the safety features on your device
  • Don’t wear headphones
  • Vary your route
