A drug bust in Moose Jaw has resulted in charges against three people for trafficking cannabis at a retail establishment.

Investigators say MJ Compassion has been operating on River Street West for some time, posing as a legitimate business. Despite warnings from police to stop their actions, investigators say they continued to sell cannabis and that resulted in officers executing a search warrant on Thursday.

Dylan Lawrence of Moose Jaw was arrested and charged with three counts of trafficking marijuana and possession of the proceeds of crime. Lawrence was released on conditions and will appear in court on a later date. Jonathan Koch of Moose Jaw and Chevy Daly of Regina were also charged and then released.

Earlier this year, two retail cannabis permits were issued by the province but the shop that was raided did not receive a license. Even if they had been given a permit, cannabis does not become legal until October.

Regina Police have executed similar busts in the last several months, with numerous stores closing voluntarily after warnings from police.
