Just after 1 am on Sunday morning, patrolling Moose Jaw police officers were attacked with bear spray after confronting a male.

Police were patrolling the 0 block of 1st Ave NW when the male was observed spraying members of the public with bear spray.

When confronted, the man sprayed two officers and ran off. After a foot pursuit, and a brief struggle with the man, police were able to subdue the subject and take him into custody.

As a result of the bear spray and the scuffle, three officers were treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. Two members of the public were also treated by EMS at the scene, with one being transported to the hospital.

The 23-year-old man will be charged with two counts of assault on police with a weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon, assault on a police officer, resist arrest, and three breaches of a court order.

The male will appear in court Monday morning, with other possible charges pending.
