In an effort to find a way to get emergency crews down the narrow streets, a new bylaw is now in play 1 that restricts parking to one side of the street in a portion of the Avenues.

The pilot project will impact six streets and if successful, could be expanded to other areas with very narrow roadways, according to Mark Sture with the City of Moose Jaw Engineering Department. He added that it's a matter of safety and they'll be studying the pilot project area closely to review its effectiveness.

"We have a number of roadways within the city that are relatively narrow.  This inhibits emergency vehicles from accessing homes or properties along those roads.  We've had a bylaw passed and implemented one-sided parking restrictions to allow those emergency vehicles to access those roadways."

The signs are going up as we speak and they should be fully installed by Tuesday. While the bylaw takes affect July 1st, the parking restrictions won't be enforced until all of the signage is in place.

This is the complete list of affected roads for the pilot, as found on the city's website.
