Pfizer Canada has advised Health Canada and is advising Canadians that some EpiPen and EpiPen Jr. devices could possibly delay a medical emergency.

Due to an issue with a few labels' not put properly on the carrier tube's the auto-injector's come in, the pens could get stuck when trying to pull them out of the tubes and delay or prevent emergency treatment.

This is a rare defect found in only a few carrier tubes which do not affect the device itself. There is no issue for a recall because anyone with an EpiPen and pharmacist simply have to check to make sure it will slide out of their carrier tube.

Pfizer says if your sticks or does not slide out easily from its tube, or the device label has unglued edges, then to return it to your pharmacist for a replacement.

The issue may affect devices with the expiry date between April 2018 and October 2019.
