As we wind down the year, food economists from Ontario are warning Canadians that we'll have to dig a little deep in order to stock the fridge at home in 2016.

The lower loonie is driving food prices up across the country. For 2015, that worked out to an extra $325 over last year and the jump is expected to be another $345 next year, or an extra $6.60 a week.

One of the main reasons?  Fruits and veggies since about 80% are imported so they are hit by the low dollar.
