Parrish & Heimbecker celebrated the grand opening of their retail and fertilizer distribution centre in Moose Jaw on Friday.

The P&H facility has expanded its fertilizer distribution centre to a capacity of approximately 20,000 tons of fertilizer, which is coupled with a fertilizer blending operation.

Event attendees included Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie, P&H Vice President of Crop Inputs Canada Justin Watson, and P&H Moose Jaw General manager Kerry Olson.

"This investment from P&H really brings rural and urban Saskatchewan together. Products that are grown in rural Saskatchewan are exported to countries all around the world," Moe commented.

"That investment from the value of those products comes back and is invested into urban centres of our province...communities like Moose Jaw. And it's that investment that provides careers for people in both rural and urban Saskatchewan."

The premier went on to say, "Ag is the core of Saskatchewan's economy. It creates jobs, research opportunities, engineering opportunities, and financial opportunities," and that P&H's expansion is proof that Saskatchewan is home to exciting opportunities in investment. Moe said the government is committed to sustaining investment in Saskatchewan.

Mayor Tolmie congratulated P&H on their expansion, the culmination of a vision that was started in 2009. Tolmie said the expansion "shows the potential, courage and imagination of P&H and the people of Moose Jaw."

GM Olson shared his thoughts on the grand opening, and P&H's gratitude for the support they've received with regard to the expansion project: "It did come together very nicely, and [we're] very appreciative of the contingency that we had following us...the politicians to come out and be a part of this. To do the hard work, and get it going and then have those people come in and recognize the job that we're doing.", "...there are more announcements of expansions and upgrades to come."

VP Watson said P&H's focus is "building on rail access" and that Saskatchewan can expect "more announcements of expansions and upgrades" because "the global fertilizer market is growing."
