There are 68 days of summer vacation, with school coming along to end it, but that doesn't mean there's nothing to do for kids in Moose Jaw. The Parks Programs are starting up again this summer and will provide activities for kids 6-12, all across the city. The programs are starting July 3rd and will run until August 15th.

Scott Osmachenko, Moose Jaw's Recreation Services Director, explained what will be going on for kids during the summer.

"So there's lots of fun activities planned, each week actually has a different theme, so children will basically be playing some games, they'll be playing some sports, they'll be reading stories, arts and crafts, and then as well, just enjoying the environment and the nature of the park."

The programs will be from 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday. There are no costs involved, and parents can sign their kids up by heading down to their neighbourhood's local park division. Osmachenko welcomes the return of the East End division's playground, with the brand new Co-op Community Spray Park.

"We're excited to have East End Playground back, after last year with the upgrades that were going there, so just so everyone on the East side can look forward to visiting the East end playground program again."

The programs will run until August 15, when there will be a Grand Finale with all 8 of the city's local park divisions, celebrating at Elgin Park.
