The funeral industry is just one of many that has been hit hard by COVID-19, with public gathering limitations in place across the world.

James Murdoch with the Moose Jaw Funeral Home explains

"It has definitely made our role even a bit more prominent because people are reaching out to us with questions and we're trying to provide answers to the best of our ability, going on the basis of what our federal and provincial governments are mandating, along with guidance from the public health officials."

Murdoch said it's delaying the opportunities for people to grieve the loss of loved ones.

"The majority of families that we're privileged to serve right now are going on to the final decision that cremation will take place in honour of their loved one, regroup, and then do a celebration of life at a later date when that can take place."

Murdoch goes on to say that one of the most difficult parts, is families being left unaware when they can actually hold the gathering.

"We don't know when that will be. We truly don't know."
