Extreme wind remains in most of the province, including Moose Jaw as we start a new day. Wind gusts have hit over 100km per hour in the city causing a number of problems.  Despite the high winds still hammering the area, Environment Canada has lifted the actual wind warning saying conditions are improving.

Meanwhile, most of the city is without power, with the exception of the north side. The rest is in the dark as the high winds have wreaked havoc with power lines and trees. The Moose Jaw Fire Department has responded to a number of calls for power lines and trees being knocked down since the worst of the wind started shortly after 9:30.  For many, it wasn't much longer after that when the lights went out and have stayed out.  A wind gust was recorded at 131km per hour in Moose Jaw around the time many lost power.

SaskPower sent out a tweet last night that said the power will remain off until later this morning when crews can safely make repairs.  A number of communities are in a similar situation and with the wind expected to stay like this until after sunrise, it could be a while until power is restored.

Be safe out there, there are no traffic lights as a result of the situation so use caution when traveling.

We have also had word from Prairie South and Holy Trinity and there will be classes today.
