Moose Jaw’s newest mural was unveiled on South Hill on Friday afternoon.

Painted by local artist Carly Jaye, the large mural can be found on the side of the Palliser Regional Library building on the corner of Fourth Avenue Southwest and Coteau Street.

Taking a step back, Jaye was amazed by the final product.

“Even as the creator, it's crazy to step back at the end of these processes of a mural and see your initial vision brought to life,” she said.

Measuring 20 feet high and 50 feet long, the mural depicts a number of scenes from South Hill including books to represent the library, the Snowbirds to represent 15 Wing Moose Jaw, the Thunderbird Viaduct and Tatagwa Park.

The mural was done in partnership with the South Hill Community Association and took about four weeks to complete.

“Our first conversation started middle of September. We sat down, had our meeting, and I did a little drawing mockup of what my plan was and started painting the week following,” Jaye said.

Helping her on the project was her family, friends and local artist Kayla Hanson who is known for her work with 32 Flavours. She also had help painting the bottom of the Thunderbird Viaduct from local daycare children.

This is just one of many projects that Jaye has completed in the community including painting benches and fire hydrants along Main Street and the mural at Boh’s Cycle and Sporting Goods.
