New public health guidelines and orders took effect Saturday at 12:01 a.m. The new measures were announced earlier in the week, as part of widespread measures introduced with the aim of curbing the spread of COVID-19. 

The new orders state casinos and bingo halls must close. Additionally, all personal care services such as hair salons and massage therapists must reduce their customer occupancy to 50 percent.  

This is in addition to measures that were introduced earlier this week that included all private indoor gatherings are limited to immediate households only, and outdoor gatherings limited to a maximum of 10 people, with physical distancing observed between households. 

Further measures will take effect on Christmas Day, affecting retailers in the province. Retailers over 20,000 square feet must reduce the number of people inside to 25 percent of capacity, while all other retail services must reduce their capacity to 50 percent.
